One of my favorite parts of being a real estate agent is the ability to get out in the community and connect with the people of Montgomery County. Home to nearly one million people, Montgomery County offers a unique mix of suburban cities, small towns, and rural communities. Here is my countdown of the top five reasons I love living in Montgomery County!
Montgomery County schools are some of the highest ranked in the nation. With approximately 150,00 students, Montgomery County Public Schools spends $13,938 per year per student. Two Montgomery County schools were awarded the prestigious Blue Ribbon Award in 2016. The county is also home to a number of nationally recognized private and parochial schools.
Getting around the county is simple. A network of major roads, connect all parts of the county. The Red Line of the Washington Metro begins and ends in Montgomery County (after passing through the center of Washington, DC). Metrobus provides more than 12,000 stops to move riders easily throughout the county. Finally, Montgomery County can be accessed via the only remaining ferry crossing of the Potomac River between White’s Ferry, MD and Leesburg, VA.
According to Zillow, Montgomery County home values increased 1.4% between October 2015 and November 2016. Zillow predicts they will rise 1.8% within the next year. The median home value in Montgomery County is $429,500.
Montgomery County is a business center, attracting many federal agencies such as U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, the Nuclear Regulatory Commission, and the National Institute of Standards and Technology. Marriott International and Lockheed Martin have corporate headquarters in Montgomery County.
Life in Montgomery County offers many recreational choices, from walking the trails in national and county parks to catching a show at the Strathmore Music Center. The Montgomery County Department of Recreation offers numerous programs for children and adults. Montgomery College is a nationally recognized community college with campus throughout the county.
