Do you want to help impact someone’s life this holiday season? No matter what holiday you celebrate, giving back is a part of the holiday season. In the Washington D.C. area there are lots of opportunities to give back to the community. Here are a few organizations that help the community this winter.
The Holiday Project
The Holiday Project organizes people to go visit nursing homes, hospitals and other residential institutions. The volunteers help to give back by having conversations with people and bring them into the holiday spirit. Maybe people spend the holiday season alone in these places and having a simple conversation with them can bring joy to their day. If you are interested please contact to volunteer.
Toys for Tots
Toys for Tots is well known for giving back in the DMV area. By dropping off an unwrapped gift at a store location, a child’s holiday season could be changed. The toys are stored and organized by gender and age from October until December. With the assistance of local social welfare agencies, church groups, and other local community agencies, the toys are distributed to the less fortunate children in the area on Christmas. If you would like more information or store locations, please contact Toys for Tots.
